Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers UNT

My goal by choosing this project is to be able to be a role model for a child. I wish they would have had a program like this to outreach to the younger first generation kid because I would have been more prepared.

    3. hello Solei,
Some classes I do enjoy and others I try my best to understand, when I don't fully understand what is going on in class I go to the teacher and ask questions. My hardest class is computer networks. what are your favorite kinds of book? I want to start reading books soon. I like tamales too, my favorite are the red meat kind. I also love enchiladas which potato and carrots in them. I can only eat frijoles charros when they don't have chile in them. other that than that I would just savor them. I listen to latin pop also but I like country more, even though I listen to nortenas and corridos too. I have classes Friday, but I will try my best to make it.

  6. Hello Jesus!

This is your pen pal and friend Ricardo Beltran. I am currently attending the University of North Texas studying Mechanical and Energy Engineering with a minor in Math. I am taking a total of 5 courses, which are differential equations (math class), machine elements (engineering class), circuit analysis, data analysis and a materials lab. The classes are really fun but challenging. I love to build and fly drones, work out, read books, cook, jump rope, record music, attend organization meetings, and most importantly be an entrepreneur for my own businesses. I hope you are doing well, and continue working hard in your favorite hobby which is soccer. I believe in you, and know that one day you will be the best soccer player in the world. Remember, don't give up no matter what. If it was easy, everyone would be the world's best soccer player, but it is challenging and only a few such as you can achieve that. Don't forget that school is also important! If you focus and work hard at school just like you do in soccer, you can also be the best at school! If you ever need anything, I am always here to help! Take care y saludos a la hermosa familia!

    1. Hola Ricardo,
Espero verte alli.

This is Andrea, your pen pal. I hope you are having a great time at school so far and it’s so cool to see that you guys get to use chrome tablets! Take advantage of the technology that you get handed to you. Anyways, I am currently studying to be a BioMedical Engineer. Some of the classes that I am taking this year are Calculus III, Anatomy and Phsiology, Technical Writing, and a coding class specifically made for biomedical engineering majors. I will say this semester is tough and more time consuming, but I am still so grateful that I get to be apart of this organization because I got to meet you. In my free time, I love to workout, do my makeup, play with my dog, and hangout with friends. I also love to explore new places here in Dallas. Anyways, spring break is coming up, got any plans? I will be going back home to Houston for the break. By the way, I can’t wait for you to come visit UNT, I know you will love it and I’m also so excited to see you again.

    Sincerely,

  12. Hello Valeria,

This is your pen pal, Cynthia Moreno. I’m sorry I haven’t sent out my first letter. I’ve been quite busy with exams and project assignments. However, I am currently studying Electrical Engineering at the University of North Texas. I also have minors in Mathematics and Spanish but I’ve already completed the coursework needed for those minors. The classes I am currently taking are Reconfigurable Computing, Control Systems, Computer Organization and my first semester of Senior Design. I am a part of one organization which I’ve dedicated most of my time since my freshman year of college. My position right now with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) is being the Historian where my job is to take pictures and post them on our social media handles. I’ve also been the Vice President, Secretary and SHPE Jr. Chair for SHPE for the last couple of years.
Enough about me, how has school been for you? How many books have you read so far? I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Sincerely,
    Cynthia Moreno

This will be my first time visiting UNT, Im so excited! I can't wait to see the college. So far I have read about 7 chapter books. On May I am going to TCU because my team won Battle of the Books in our school. I need to read 8 books so I can be ready for our next battle in May. The good thing is that i love to read. What do you do to get ready for a test?
Hope to hear back from you.

    1. Dear Valeria,

I am doing fine, I am currently working on multiple project assignments and working. I wish you the very best when studying for Math because I know that it is one of the toughest subjects. I hope you enjoy UNT when you come and visit. It is a big school so be prepared to walk a lot, other than that its a really nice campus. Its awesome that your team won! How do you win Battle of the Books? The way I prepare for an exam is by re-doing my homework problems and studying my notes which may different from the way you study. Good luck studying for the STAAR test and preparing for your battle in May.

  15. Dear DCLP students,
My name is Raul Vides Sarmiento, I am currently a Freshman at the University of North Texas.
I am with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers(SHPE), and I am here to represent
them and my school. I am majoring in Electrical and Computer engineering, which means that
there will be math courses I am going to have to face. Outside of school, I enjoy exercising,
boxing, gardening, playing the trombone, practicing other languages, and playing video games.
My goals in the future are to achieve a degree in Electrical and Computer engineering so that I
can work with technology in certain companies and to maintain a garden in my future home.
My younger brother once told me that he wants to pursue a similar career that I am currently
pursuing. His words inspired me to cooperate with you students, so that I am able to inspire you
like how I inspired him. I am thankful for the opportunity I have to work with you students.
Whatever dream you have, I hope that you will be able to achieve it one day, and I plan to
    contribute to your success.
I look forward to working with you all.
    Sincerely,
