I really like school and my favorite subject right now is Math. Right now, we are learning how to subtract and add 3 digit numbers. I also like to read books. My favorite book author is Dr. Seuss. I really enjoyed my trip to the University of North Texas. Thank you for the gift.

  1. Hi Valentina!

I hope you are having a great week. I am Maria Martinez, we meet at the Christmas Party a while ago. ( I hope you remember me! ) I am a college freshman at UNT. I am studying to be an elementary teacher, so I will get my degree in Bilingual Education.

This semester I am still taking my core classes. Among them are English, Biology (the study of the body), Human Development (this class is all about how a child grows from a baby to a grown up. It is my favorite! ), Political Science (the study of politics and government, kind of like history ), and Art Appreciation. I am enjoying college so much!

I have joined a lot of clubs so that I could start making friends right away. I am a part of a sorority here on campus called Pi Beta Phi, it is awesome because we help out at book fairs and I get to do really fun activities like movie nights with them. I am also a part of BESO, a bilingual education club. I recently got to fly to New Mexico for a gathering. It was amazing. Lastly, I also joined LULAC and HSA (hispanic student association). I love going to these clubs because I get to learn new things about my culture.

I am so excited for you to come to UNT!! I know you will love it as much as I do. Everyone here is very friendly and outgoing. Let me know if you have any questions about college. I would love to answer them!

    See you soon,

    Maria :)

  2. Dear Puga Family,
It's been awhile since we last spoke, thank you for the wonderful chocolates you gave me. My mother said thank you and I enjoyed them too. I remember when we met here at UNT and I realized how exciting y'all are as whole, your family connection is strong and that is wonderful to see. I'm a college junior this year at UNT, I'm studying broadcasting which is being on the tv or on the radio. I'll plan on persuing my masters in higher education in student affairs because I love helping out others.
College life is always great, there will be times to study and times to have fun. Although, I have to work hard and I have two jobs I do throughout the week. Soon I'll be traveling to Kansas City, Missouri for spring break. Then California to see my aunt after school and then in August to San Luis Potosi, Mexico. I'm in LULAC, Vice President of Lions club international at UNT, and apart of TRiO SSS as an ambassador! My favorite things about they organizations is that it goes with me helping out others.
I'm so ready to see y'all here at UNT!!! You'll have a wonderful time when you come back here. UNT during the spring is a really fun time to be here because everyone is out and about. If you have anything to ask or want to know more, please let me know and I'll answer back!
    I'll see y'all again,
    Sincerely,
    Antonio

  3. Hi Isaais!

I hope you are having a great school year so far! I'm your pen pal, Nancy Fuentes. I am a junior at UNT and my major is criminal justice/psychology. This semester I am taking several classes that pertain to my criminal justice degree, such as criminal investigation, computer crime, etc. They are a bit more challenging this semester as they require critical thinking and a lot of reading but I enjoy my classes very much!

I am part of several organizations on campus such as TRiO, HSA (Hispanic Student Association), LULAC, and lastly, I am also a proud sister of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. I enjoy being part of these organizations as they all either help me with my academics, learn about my culture, and do community service... which I absolutely love to do!

I hope to see you soon here at UNT and I know you'll have a great time when you come! If you have any questions, please let me know!

    See you soon,

    Nancy Fuentes :)

  5. Dear Nancy,
Thank you for writing me. I was not able to go to the field trip to UNT because I was sick. My favorite subjects this year are math and science. In science, I am learning about the life cycles of animals and in my GT class, I am made one of the houses from the Three Little Pigs out of paper, foil, and popsicle sticks. Someday, I hope to be a police officer. Wish you a good summer- Isaaisa

      Take care,
